A Black Hole Isn't a "Hole" — It's the Densest Thing We Know
The name suggests emptiness, but a black hole is the opposite of empty: an enormous mass packed into an unprecedentedly tiny volume.
The common image of a black hole as a "hole in space" that things fall through is misleading — it's not an absence of matter, it's an extreme excess of it in one spot.
A black hole forms when mass becomes so densely packed that gravity overwhelms everything else, creating a region where not even light can reach the speed needed to escape.
The boundary of that region, the event horizon, isn't a physical surface — it's a point of no return, a mathematical line beyond which no information ever makes it back out.
So paradoxically, a "hole" turns out to be an object so dense that the rest of the universe looks almost empty by comparison.
