Nobody has ever managed to read this medieval manuscript

The Voynich Manuscript is a 15th-century book written entirely in an unknown script found nowhere else, illustrated with drawings of nonexistent plants, astronomical symbols, and scenes that look like bathhouses full of figures.

Statistical analysis of the text shows it isn't random gibberish — its structure resembles a real, coherent language, with letter-frequency patterns typical of natural speech, which rules out (for most researchers) the simple theory of a content-free hoax.

Cryptologists, including teams who broke ciphers during World War II, have tried to decode it for decades — without success. No proposed reading has ever won broad acceptance from the scholarly community.

What the text actually is remains just one hypothesis among several: an unknown, extinct dialect, an elaborate cipher, a deliberate period hoax, or even an experiment in building an artificial, constructed language long before modern linguistics existed.
