The people who carved these giant desert drawings probably never saw them in full themselves
The Nazca Lines are so massive that their full shape only becomes legible from the air, long before flight was ever invented.
On the Nazca plateau in Peru, spread across hundreds of square kilometers, ancient inhabitants carved hundreds of geometric lines and figures depicting animals, plants, and abstract shapes into the desert surface β some stretching hundreds of meters long.
Because of their sheer scale, the full shape of these drawings is only genuinely legible from a great height β from the ground, you can only make out fragments of individual lines, not a coherent picture as a whole.
The line-makers, living long before any form of flight was invented, most likely planned them methodically using simple measuring tools and scaled-up smaller patterns β they didn't need to see the whole thing from above in order to lay it out precisely on the ground.
What remains debated is the exact purpose of the lines β hypotheses point to an astronomical function, ritual use, a connection to water worship, or marking processional routes β none of them confirmed as the one, true answer.
