Uncoil the DNA in your body and it would reach the Sun and back — multiple times over
The total length of DNA in every cell of one human, laid end to end, dwarfs the Earth-Sun distance many times over.
A single strand of DNA in one cell, stretched out, is about 2 meters long — packed into a cell nucleus just a few micrometers across, hundreds of thousands of times smaller.
The human body has an estimated tens of trillions of cells. Multiply the length of DNA per cell by that many cells and add it all up, and you get a distance measured in billions of kilometers.
For comparison: the Earth-Sun distance is about 150 million kilometers. The total DNA in one human, stretched into a line, would be enough for several round trips there and back.
The stakes: this is one of those facts that's genuinely hard to picture — packing a physical structure of that scale into a body that fits on a chair is an engineering feat evolution pulled off almost too well to fully appreciate.
