There's No "Up" or "Down" in Space
Up and down are just a local side effect of Earth's gravity — out in open space, those words simply don't apply.
On Earth, "down" is the direction gravity pulls, and "up" is its opposite — intuitive, because we live on the surface of a massive body.
Out in space, far from any dominant source of gravity, these concepts stop making sense: there's no single direction that qualifies as "down."
That's why footage from the space station can be disorienting — astronauts work "upside down" relative to each other without any issue, because for a body in free fall (and orbit is really just continuous free fall), orientation is arbitrary.
Even the word "up" only means something in space relative to something specific — say, the direction toward the nearest planet, or your own spacecraft's orientation.
